These silver torah finials (rimonim) reveal the literal significance of the word rimonim in English - pomegranates. The pomegranate is opened to expose the seeds which are in fact garnet stones and silver hemispheres. Part of the crown is studded with pearls, which represent the stamen of the pomegranate flower. The handles are decorated with the leaves of the pomegranate tree. In the photograph, the two finials are shown from opposite sides, as the two pieces are identical but the two sides of each particular finial are different from each other.
